While some of the descriptions were pleasant reminders of the Holy Land, her descriptions were based on ignorance of the land, it’s people, their history, or it’s importance to the faith community. She actually laughed at Catholic men wearing the crucifix 24/7. The author wrote about the people as though they were just caricatures and there simply in relation to herself and what they will/will not provide her. She is the worst of tourists- bringing their anachronistic views with them, barely sticking their toe into the water, and then thinking they dove deep (deep enough to write a book?!). Don’t waste your time because her stories are neither funny nor interesting in the least.
